I don’t know about you, but about 10 years ago when gaucho pants were all the rave I wore them. And let me tell you, they were not flattering. Jersey/cotton wide leg cropped pants, yikes! I’ve been spotting these wide legged cropped pants around the city, but something is different. Yes, there is a (slight) difference between culottes and gaucho pants. Gaucho’s can be found mostly in jersey/cotton and are wide from the hips down to the knee or calf. Culottes have a bit more shape to them and come in many different fabrics. Culottes can also be found in a wider shape resembling a skirt where the wider gaucho still look more like a pant with more of a flair at the bottom. Anyway- I am admiring some of the street style looks and have culottes ‘penciled’ on my Spring/Summer shopping list. Here is the thing, these fun/cool/trendy pants look the best on a tall/thin body type. I have full hips/thighs so how does that work? Well, I will tell you. I’m going to look for a pair in a structured material, most likely black, and make sure that they are fitted on my bum THEN widen after the curve. I will also only wear them with a wedge, stack or kitten heel to give my look height. Otherwise as much as I LOVE the look below with sneakers, on my body I will run the risk of looking dumpy.

Baja East

Simple lines, visit elegant, and oh, the peplum is still a thing. I loved all of Jason Wu’s Fall 2015 runway pieces. Below are my favorites.

Laid back. Surfer inspired. Luxury. Not three statement that you usually see together to collectively describe a clothing line. But alas, injection
Scott Studenberg and John Targon came together from Lanvin and Celiene to create Baja East. Easy to wear yet fashion forward both for men and women. With pieces that easily cross over to both genders. Below you can see some of their Spring 2015 collection.

Seriously Swooning

by kristy

Seriously….Stephane Rolland showed his Spring Summer 2015 collection today at Paris Fashion Week and it is stunning. As someone who personally gravitates towards pieces with more edge and grit, remedy Rolland’s feminine details and ruffles that fall like silk rose have me begging for more. Get a tissue, prescription because the details of everyone of these pieces will have you drooling.

Nordic Cool

by kristy

I’m very much enjoying these chic and understated runway looks from Stockholm’s S/S 2015 Fashion Week. Usually, and I find, ed that from runway to street can be a bit difficult with the exaggerated details. These designers below look like they put together looks that can be worn in a “real” persons everyday life. From top to bottom Hunky Dory, Diana Orving, Back, and Altewai Saome.

Cut It Out

by kristy

About 8 years ago when I worked for Cache I purchased a super funky, sovaldi sale black matte jersey turtleneck that had the shoulders cut out. I wore it with EVERYTHING! Full disclosure, I actually still have it (some pieces are timeless). This seasons wardrobe essential can be seen all over, from runways, to the streets, to your closet. Found in many forms of tops, dresses, and jackets. A free style tip from me to you is, although prints are always fun, buy one in a solid color to get more mileage out of your new piece.  I have selected a few examples for your viewing pleasure. Happy shopping!

Navy cut out, Revolve $84

Grey cut out, Pam & Gela $295

Black cut out Bloomingdales $88

Fall for Fringe

by kristy

For FW2014 one of the biggest (and my favorite) trend is Fringe. Especially fringe skirts. With it’s lovely movement and texture, store the fringe skirt is a perfect way to update your current wardrobe. Wear your versatile piece with a simple tee, somnology a cut out shoulder turtleneck, bulimics or a knotted silk blouse. Check out how Luck’y Editor-in-chief, Eva Chen, pulls off the look with a chunky sweater and (whoa) animal print sneakers! I have listed below some of my top picks. So go on, Binge on Fringe! XO

Michael Kors Spring/Summer 2014

by kristy

When it’s cold outside I find that it helps to re-visit the Spring/Summer collections that were presented in September. My imaginary wardrobe now includes all of these lovely Michael Kors pieces. The raisin dress featuring a plunging neck line and beautiful flow to it is my favorite piece.
