Lets Talk Layers

by kristy

When it comes to color and complexion it is monumentally important to know what shades work best for your face. That being said, viagra 100mg my personal opinion on figuring out your ‘Season’ and sticking to only those colors is deceptive. Olive green is one of those colors that I think just about everyone can pull off. This beautiful warm color can be worn by just about every complexion and it plays well with many other colors. Pair OG with plum, navy, yellow, orange, rose, black, tan, white, pure red, peach, grey, brown (to name a few). Olive green is always ‘In’ and a color that carries you through all seasons. Kool!!! As I was going through the plethora of  delicious street style photos from NYFW (going on now) I noticed many fashionistas sporting olive green. Enjoy!

Not only a technique to keep you warm, pharmacy
layering is a great way to make your outfit look more interesting. Many woman shy away from layering because they fear that by doing so, prostate
their figure may appear to be larger than it is. With a few key tips you can be on your way to stylish laying no matter where you fall on the style spectrum. Lets start with Rule #1- The bottom layer must be fitted. This one is so simple: Fitted turtle neck and a sleeveless dress.

If you have a defined waist, buy belt the final top layer at your smallest bit.

Do not use the same fabric for all your layering parts. This will look sloppy and not-so-interesting.

8 Shoes Every Fashion Forward Women Should Own

by kristy

May I be so bold to say that I have made a list of 8 shoes every women should own?! Unless of course you live on a farm and spend your days amongst lovely flowers and plants (one can dream), web then this list will not speak to you. Notice that I did not add flip flops or hiking boots on here, cost those are more extracurricular. Read between the lines of that last sentence *Flip Flops do not count as a shoe, they belong on the beach/spa/after gym*.

The ever so versatile Black Pump

blkpump

*Shopping tip- soft leather is the best, it will age nicely and never be ‘out’. Patent is more for fall/winter and business women. Look for something that has a bit of detail like these, see how the inside dip is lower. Unless you are one of those freakish women who can rock high heels day in and day out (I mean that in the kindest way) DO NOT buy super high heels. Go with a kitten it 2″ heel. It’s not cute when you can barley walk. Spend a little bit more on shoes in general, your feet and spine will thank you. Pointy will lengthen your legs, round toe will do the opposite. I’m not a huge fan of the round toe pump, but that’s just me.

Ankle Stap Sandel

Look at how friggen stylish these are! An ankle strap sandal can (like accessories) really elevate your outfit. Wear them with jeans, a dress, skirts, silk pants, regular pants, you name it!

*Shopping tip- I would go with a neutral on these so that they can go with literally everything. These are super cute and won’t break the bank.

Bootie

A personal favorite staple of mine, the Bootie. I wear them all year round, except when it’s over 92 degrees outside. They work so well for me with skinny jeans and dresses/skirts that are knee length or shorter or a maxi dress/skirt; when it comes to the in between length you would need the bootie to have a bit of a heel for the right proportion. It’s this whole look so cute, I love it!

booties

*Shopping tips – You can have fun with these and get a nice pop color like red. I have them in black and grey, one flat and one with a heel (guess which pair never gets used, you guessed it! The heels, ouch). A spunky pair like these would be great for funkafying any look.

Flats

Be it ballet or the new strapy lace up closed toe flats (on my current *Covet* list), a good flat can be your best buddy for many a looks. I personally don’t care for the ballet flats that have emblems or bows on them, simple (sometimes) is better. Another trend that came around a couple of years ago and is still current, the studded flat. I love a little edge with a touch of feminine. It’s also funny when you leave them by the door and your friend steps on them in the middle of the night. Rahaha.

*Shopping tip – If you are starting over on your wardrobe it’s always best to stick with neutral colors. This way you have the highest versatility rate. Also buy yourself a couple shoe bags for those days you want to carry flats in your bag for the old switch-a-roo.

Printed or Funky or Bold Shoe

This can really be any type of shoe. Oxfords, booties, flats, pumps. The purpose of this shoe is to spice up your look. Monochromatic outfits with a pop shoe is fun and a good way to draw attention away from your mid section. Wear a pop/printed/bold shoe and a large necklace to draw the eye up and down in a straight line. You can use a printed shoe as a way to mix prints in your look.

*Shopping tip – have fun with it!

Stylish Sneakers

Yes! Thank you all mighty universe for opening thy eyes to comfortable fashion! It’s real and it’s stylish. I mean, just take a look at all of these outfits. I would wear all of them. If you want to try this look but want to start slow, grab some converse sneakers.

*Shopping tip – If you are up for it, go with something outrageous like these. Also, don’t just grab any ol sneaker and sweet baby jesus do not buy Sketchers. Ugh.

Tall Boot

Now, I’m a cowgirl boot wearing women. I like vintage with a stack heel. The more sleek and safe options are awesome too. I love the look of a mid length dress and tall boots or the mini and tall boots or the skinny jeans and tall boot. This butterscotch color makes my insides feel like glitter; I love them.

kneeh

*Shopping tip – Don’t buy the over the knee boots if you are petite. You can go with a stack heel or flat, the wedge boots tend to look too clunky on most people.

Nude Pump

The nude pump is generally one of the first pieces that I pick up for my clients, especially if she works in a professional setting. In the Spring and Summer they are a go to. I love, love, love nude shoes with navy, but They-Go-With-Everything! Sling backs are nice and sleek and a god alternative if you already have pumps in black.

*Shopping tip – Don’t buy them loose, the back can sometimes stretch out a bit.

NYFW Street Style – Olive Green

How To Be Stylish

by kristy

Assuming that you don’t have the body (or budget) of a super model, sale it can be rather difficult to dress stylishly. We allllll knooooow how easy it is to throw on some yoga pants and call it a day (STOP IT NOW!!!!). And sure, you might feel comfortable and there is some dope athletic wear, but I am willing to bet that you would feel so much better in an actual outfit. Here are some tips to keep in your back pocket the next time you are dressing for your day.

Know What Work For Your Body

Do some research on your shape, the best way to dress for it is to know what ‘Type’ of body you have. Are you an ‘Inverted Triangle’, a ‘Short Petite Triangle’ (or a ‘Long Petite Triangle), or a ‘Slender Inverted Triangle’ (to name a few)? Perhaps you have the classic problem of a small waist and wider hips, you would want to know that belting your waist is an easy way to show off your figure in a stylish way. Without the belt, this look wouldn’t work and she might appear to have a bigger middle than she does. Who wants that?! Not I. Also, this look is a very stylish look and I realize that most people don’t have the lifestyle that requires heels and a designer skirt so listen up. This look can be re-created with a full skirt similar to this and a T shirt. Use a wide belt and pick your shoes depending on what you are doing. Sneakers, like a Keds or Converse would be super cute. A bootie if you have longer legs or the skirt hits just above the knee.  Gladiator flats.

Work Towards A ‘Look’

This by no means put yourself in a box and never reach outside of said box. What I mean is if you are more of a ‘Minimalist’ don’t waste your money on loud pieces. Start with the basics then once you feel that you have several solid outfits, add some spunk (or not). For these basic pieces, know where to spend and think about ‘Cost Per Wear’ (will talk about that more in a moment).

Accessories Your Look

Accessories are my go to fashion weapon. If you can believe it, I too have my outfits woes. Right before I get into that THIS-IS-ALL-SHIT-I-AM-NOT-GOING-OUT mode, I put on a big necklace and a arm party then I am ready to go. The right accessories can change up a look totally. Take Leandra Medine from The Man Repeller for example. The white top and white jeans is a chic look on it’s own but Medine pumped up the volume with her amazing styling skills.

Shop Smart

A closet full of clothes does not translate over to stylish. This is as true as ‘Not all that is trendy, is good’. Stop over buying and trying to keep up with the latest trends, it’s exhausting and I bet you would rather save the money you spent on the same style top that you already own three of (“But Kristy, it’s a different color”) for a kick ass getaway. Want to play a fun game? Look in your closet and pull out that top you spent your hard earned money on and NEVER WOREOh, is there another one? Weird.

Here are some Do’s when shopping. Lets bring it back to C.P.W (Coast Per Wear). Lets say you find a button up shirt dress that’s $175 and it fits you well. Think about how many looks you can get out of your investment. Wear it as a dress with a thin belt, a fun necklace and a blazer. Add some sling backs and bam, look one. Wear it as a dress again with a wide leather belt and some booties. Maybe a cropped leather jacket and some studs, Look 2. Button shirt dress to the middle point, wear an A-line skirt with  some heels, look 3. Reverse these two pieces, tuck the shirt dress into the skirt, different shoes and accessories, look 4. Dinner date or casual meeting? Layer a sheer slip dress under the shirt dress, leave the bottom two buttons undone. Slim silver chocker, studs, and slick heels, number one stunna aka. look 5. I have two points here, we have brought the C.P.W to $35 and the next time you are thinking about purchasing a new edition to your wardrobe, ask yourself if you can wear the piece at least three different ways.

atleast3ways

Here’s one last tid bit; don’t save that dress for a special occasion. Wear it, and get it dirty with your life. XO
